Questions people ask
Can't see what you need to know? Our Fareham office will tell you straight.
Mon–Fri 7am – 5pm · Sat 9am – 12 noon
Is there anything a Zebra skip can't take?
Yes, a short list:
- Fridges and freezers
- Tyres
- Large tree roots (over 0.5m across)
- Gas bottles
- Batteries
- Electrical items
- Hazardous waste such as asbestos
- Paint tins that aren't empty
- Tarmac
Plasterboard can't be mixed with other rubbish. If you have some, ask us for a skip just for plasterboard and we'll price it separately. Our sister company's guide covers what can and can't go in a skip.
How many days do I get?
A normal hire with Zebra is 7 working days, and online you can book up to 14 days at the same price. Need it a bit longer? Call our Fareham office: we can usually stretch it.
Will the lorry fit down my drive?
Allow a clear 3 metres of width: the skip lorry itself is 2.7 metres across. If it has to swing round to drop the skip, it needs room for that as well. If in doubt, email a photo of the spot to our Fareham office and we'll tell you.
How full can the skip be?
Up to the top edge and no higher. An overloaded skip can't legally go on the road, so the driver would have to ask you to take some out first.
Does my skip need a licence?
Only when it sits on the road, the pavement or a verge. Your council issues it and we make the application for you when you book. Overnight, a skip on the road must be lit and coned: a local tool-hire shop will have them. How skip permits work.
