What this website keeps in your browser, what it is for, and how to change your choice.
Cookies are small files a website keeps in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work; others are optional. This page covers zebrawaste.com, the website of Zebra Waste Disposal Services, part of Taurus Waste Recycling Ltd.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not use analytics cookies to follow what you do on this website.
Counting visits, without cookies
We measure how our website is used so we can improve it: which pages are opened, in what order during a visit, how long a page is looked at and how far down, which buttons and links are pressed and whereabouts on the page, the website a visitor came from, the kind of device and browser, and whether a page failed to work properly. If you put a postcode into one of our postcode boxes we keep its first half only (for example GU14), to see which areas ask for our services. We also note the town or area a visit appears to come from. This is done without any cookie and without keeping anything in your browser.
We do not keep your internet address or anything that identifies you. The town is looked up from the address on our own server at the moment you arrive, using a list we hold ourselves, and then the address is discarded. To tell that several pages were one visit, our server scrambles the address and browser type with a key that is replaced every day and then deleted. The result ties one day's pages together, cannot be turned back into your address, and cannot link one day's visit to another. The measurements stay on our own server, are not shared with anyone, and are deleted after about 13 months.
When a skip is booked, our booking system tells this website that a booking was made, so we can count bookings. Of that we keep only the day, the skip size, the first half of the postcode, the value and any offer code used. Your name, address, phone number and email are not kept here; they stay in the booking system, where they are needed to deliver your skip.
The chat
If you use the chat button, what you type (your name, your message, and a phone number or email if you leave one) is sent to our office so we can answer you. It is kept on our own server, seen only by our staff, not shared with anyone, and deleted 90 days after the last message. The chat uses no cookie: the conversation is remembered in your browser's storage, so it carries on if you refresh the page, move to another page or open our website in another tab. It is forgotten there when the chat ends, or after a day.
Needed for the website to work
These are always on. The law does not ask for your consent for them, because the website, or the service you have asked for, does not work without them.
